Just before 10pm, as I was cleaning my teeth, it sounded like someone or something was knocking against the bathroom window, which opens onto the side of the outdoor balcony. Just a little thud or 2. Anyway, to cut a long story short, I switched on the outdoor light and went outside to see what was going on. Out there, it sounded almost like a gun salute. I could see that there were 2 barges in the harbour and the shells were coming from them. After a while they stopped. Well I thought they had. Come 10pm, there was a whole heap of noise and explosions. By that time I was in bed with the light out, so I got up to see what all the commotion was and there were fire works going off from the barges. They subsided after a few minutes, so I went back to bed. Then they started up again and went on for a while. I didn't get up again because they sort of stopped and then started and then stopped. I know that their celebrations of Victory day are starting tomorrow, so I'm assuming it is to to with that.
There was also a band playing and marching along Republic street earlier in the evening.
If there are fireworks tonight, I'll try and get photos.
I work up this morning around 4am and then slept again until 5:30, so decided to get up. Still warm outside and t'storms are forecast for today, so I put the brolly & raincoat into the backpack. Went down to breakfast shortly after 7am. A very small spread but perfectly adequate. The wholemeal bread they have is delicious. Back to my room to update this before I forget and then heading out on my Mdina Highlights excursion for the day.
And the explosions are happening again and its only 8:30am.

If you click on the photos, that enlarges them.
I'm having internet problem, so will try and post some more about today, later.
