Thursday 6 September- Canberra to Malta - part 2

I think the young guy that I sat next to on the plane from Dubai to Malta, either had a drinking problem or was just plain not happy flying.
The flight was due to depart at 07:55am and we were finally off the ground at 08:25am.

Little boxes on the hillside, little boxes made of ticky tacky, little boxes on the hillside, little boxes all the same.
The attendants came around before take off, with either a Brut or Rose᷾ champagne and he and I both opted for the Brut.  Then the breakfast orders were taken.  Now, you have to remember that it was 5 hours since I had my 1st breakfast and it's nice to have a Champagne breakfast, although I didn't with the first one.
Anyway, this really nice young man had 3 glasses of red wine, plus the champagne. All within about an hour. He then watched some movies and had a nap.

We landed in Larnaca around 11:15ish and after people getting off and new people boarding, we then took off again around 12:50 for Malta.  Orange juice and apple juice were the pre-lift off drinks offered. Once we were in the air, champagne was again on offer with lunch. I opted instead to have an Espresso Martini. Belvedere Vodka boosted by Tia Maria with a  shot of Espresso and some ground coffee beans topping it. I sipped on that over the next hour. Won't bother with it again. The nice young guy, downed 1 Champagne, & 4 red wines all within about 45 minutes, while watching a movie. He then had a nap.  I think he was more the nervous traveller.

After landing in Malta and picking up the luggage, I remembered reading recently, that you have to buy a ticket for the taxi in the terminal (near where the hire car booths are), then go outside and wait. When taxi's arrive, they go in and pick up the other part of the ticket, so there is no argument about where you are going and what the price is. Except the girl who sold  me my ticket, put St, Julians on it and I was going to Valletta. €2.00 difference in the pricing, although I didn't bother questioning the price but I did tell her Valletta.  Thankfully the driver mentioned St. Julians before we took off and I told him no. I was at the hotel with 10-15 minutes and he very kindly carried my luggage to the front door. And wasn't expecting a tip.
After checking in, checking out the room

and my harbour view patio and sorting out some luggage, I updated the blog and then went and had something to eat.

Time for bed.  Night all
